An ALLUSION to the “LAST SUPPER”; An ART RESPONSE

 

The Last Supper is a late 15th-century mural painting by Italian artist Leonardo da Vinci housed by the refectory of the Convent of Santa Maria delle Grazie in Milan, Italy. It is one of the Western world's most recognizable paintings. The work is assumed to have been started around 1495–96 and was commissioned as part of a plan of renovations to the church and its convent buildings by Leonardo's patron Ludovico Sforza, Duke of Milan. The painting represents the scene of the Last Supper of Jesus with his apostles, as it is told in the Gospel of John, 13:21. Leonardo has depicted the consternation that occurred among the Twelve Apostles when Jesus announced that one of them would betray him.

This painting symbolises faith of the artist and symbolises the social issues of people. Based from this art creation it showcases the poverty of the filipinos. The Poverty of not having enough material possessions or income for our needs. The problem that most of us children experience in life. The problem that will never end unless you try to solve it.

This painting shows how hard life is when in poverty. Growing up with an incomplete family with an unstable business is not an easy thing to handle that sometimes we have to lie or we just ask stuff from our other families to survive. Aside from that, it's not only me that suffers through this but wherever I go, I always see those dwelling families on the street trying their best to survive at their state. Asking for food or money to survive or trying their best to sell things to survive.

This painting really shows the suffering of people. The life where some people have to go through to live a better life. The pain that they had to suffer to counter every obstacle. The life of cruelty in this world will never stop. The reality is more brutal than I ever thought it would be. But despite that, we have to accept it. Giving it acceptance despite this cruel world of reality. 

My conclusion to this is that this artwork created by Leonardo Da Vinci has a lot of reality meaning to it. That we people live in a life of pain but we still surpass it with our strength together as one. That theres always someone by our side to rise us up in the end. Sometimes you may be alone also but the lord will always be with you. So that still considers as having someone by your side no matter what. So we should always never give up in our life despite the brutality and the cruelty of reality.
